DIY: Christmas Nails

Hey girls!

Christmas is just around the corner which means good food, fun parties, pretty dresses, and of course, festive nails! Just by using household items, you can get your nails from plain white:

To these pretty Christmas-sy nails:

Things you need:
1. White nail polish (I used The Face Shop's gel nail polish that you can easily get for $10.90!)
2. Silver glitter nail polish (from The Face Shop)
3. Gold glitter nail polish ("I'm Not Lion #80527" from OPI)
4. Red nail polish (from OPI)
5. Toothpicks
6. Mechanical pencil with lead

Here's how to get the basics before any designs are painted on:
1. Paint one coat of nail base coat (base coat is always a MUST to prevent your nails from turning yellow after the manicure! My #1 nail base coat polish is from Sally Hansen!)
2. Paint two coats of white nail polish and leave to dry for 5 minutes

"Let Me Sparkle This Christmas!"
For the thumb's design (as seen in second picture):
1. Take a toothpick and dip it into the silver glitter nail polish bottle
2. Let the toothpick drip a little into the bottle first
3. Using the toothpick, create three intersecting lines
4. Again with the toothpick, dip it into the bottle again and dot the ends of the intersecting lines
5. Top your nails off with a finishing clear coat and viola!

If you're still finding all our instructions a little fuzzy, you can watch the video below for reference:
we all know how videos can make everything so much easier!

"Throw Some Glitter, Make It Rain"
For index finger's design (as seen in second picture):
1. Simply paint one coat of silver glitter nail polish onto your white nail
2. Paint your finishing clear coat onto your nail

"Polka My Dot This Christmas"
For middle finger's design (as seen in second picture):
1. Let your red nail polish drip onto a stack of tissues
2. Dip the mechanical pencil with a lead length of 0.5mm into the tiny puddle of red nail polish
3. Dot the red-tipped lead onto your nail randomly to create a "polka dot" effect
4. Paint your finishing clear coat onto your nail

"Tonight We Are Golden"
For ring finger's design (as seen in second picture):
1. Simply paint one coat of gold glitter nail polish onto your white nail
2. Paint your finishing clear coat onto your nail

"Hand me the Candycane"
For pinky finger's design (as seen in second picture):
1. Take a toothpick and dip it into the red nail polish bottle
2. Let the toothpick drip a little into the bottle first
3. Start to draw a candy cane
4. Repeat step 3 several times until you are satisfied with how thick the weight of your candy cane is (to ensure that the outline of your candy cane is obvious)
5. Paint your finishing clear coat onto your nails.
